Anyone holidaying at the Alpenferienpark Reisach has a big advantage:
The most beautiful hikes start right on your doorstep.
Without a car, you can embark on varied excursions from the campsite, ranging from leisurely strolls to scenic mountain hikes.
Here you will find all three hikes described in detail, including tips, guidance, and variations.
🌿 1. Reisach Circular Walk – Part 1
The ideal beginner's tour for connoisseurs & families
Duration: Approx. 2 hours
Distance: Approx. 5 km
Metres above sea level Around 200 metres
Difficulty: Light
🧭 Tour Route
Directly from the Alpenferienpark car park, you will set off on a wide forest path uphill into the woods. The path ascends pleasantly evenly and is also easily manageable with children.
After a short time, you'll cross several small streams – a pleasant way to cool off, especially on warm days.
After a short climb, you reach a junction:
👉 Here to the right on a narrow mountain path towards Reisach turn.
This leads you down to the Ortner Bach stream, which you cross over a small dam. An exciting detail:
An old water pipe runs here, which still supplies the village of Reisach with spring water today.
🌼 Alpine meadows & views
After the stream, the landscape opens up:
- high alpine meadows
- a glorious variety of flowers
- Beautiful view into the Gail Valley
Several benches invite you to linger – perfect for a little break.
The path continues over meadows and small patches of woodland before you finally reach a Tarmac road downhill towards Reisach arrives.
🏡 Way back through the village
Upon arriving in the village, you can:
- stroll through narrow alleys
- Discover traditional farms
- Enjoy fresh water from the fountain
Return journey options
Variant A (shorter & steeper):
Forest path behind the church back to the campsite
Variant B (simple & longer):
Asphalt road back – comfortable, but less varied
👉 Tip: Variant A is nicer, variant B is easier
🌄 2. Reisach Circular Walk – Part 2
The quieter tour with hidden nature spots
Duration: Approx. 2 hours
Distance: approx. 3.5 km
Metres above sea level Approx. 300 metres
Difficulty: light to medium
🧭 Tour start
From the campsite, you first follow the Tarmac road downhill, which you might have already driven past by car – you discover much more of it on foot.
After a sharp bend:
to the right of one Gravel path (Path No. 35) Turn
🌲 Through the forest to the alpine pasture
The path leads you:
- through dense forest
- past small turn-offs (pay close attention to signage!)
- Gently rising into quieter areas
After some time, you reach a small car park with a bench and a cross – a first lovely resting spot.
From here it continues via:
- narrow forest paths
- Nordic Walking trails
- along a stream
🏞Hidden alpine meadow
A special highlight:
one remote alpine meadow with two huts
Here you go:
- a great view of the Reisskofel
- plenty of peace
- Room for a longer break
Perfect for families with children to play too.
🔄 Way back
The return trip is via:
- Forest paths
- a bridge over the Rinsenbach
- finally back over the asphalt road to the campsite
👉 Tip: This tour can be perfectly combined with Part 1.
⛰️ 3. Hike to the Jochalm
The promising mountain tour for the active
Duration: approx. 3–3.5 hours (there & back)
Metres above sea level Approx. 600 m
Difficulty: medium
🧭 Ascent to Jochalm
The start is the same as in part 2:
You will first follow the route to the area around the Reisskofel swimming pool.
That's where the real ascent begins:
👉 Route No. 235 towards Jochalm
The path leads:
- firstly through shady woods
- then increasingly steeper uphill
- later on open alpine pastures
🌄 Nature & Scenery
As the altitude increases, the view becomes ever more impressive.
- View into the Gail Valley
- Panoramic view of surrounding peaks
- Alpine landscape with meadows and rocks
The path is easy to walk, but conditionally demanding.
🏡 Destination: Jochalm (1554 m)
After about 1.5 hours, you will reach the Jochalm.
Here awaits you:
- a fantastic location
- far mountain views
- the perfect place to stop for a break
👉 The perfect spot for a longer break or a snack
🔁 Route: Circular walk: Jochalm – Panoramaweg – Schönboden
The most beautiful combination for experienced hikers
Duration: approx. 4–5 hours
Difficulty: Medium to demanding
🧭 Tour Route
- Start at Schönboden campsite
- Ascent as described above to Jochalm
- From the Jochalm, continue along the Forest Trail or Panorama Trail
Instead of going back:
👉 If you follow the Panoramic trail towards Schönboden
🌄 Panoramic Trail – the highlight
This section is particularly charming:
- Spectacular views of the Gail Valley
- varied paths along the hillside
- a quiet, little-used route
The path is gently undulating (up and down), but without extreme gradients.
🔽 Way back to the campsite
The Panoramic Trail will eventually take you:
- About forest paths
- through sections of woodland
- Back towards Schönboden / Campsite
